I am starting this project for a number of reasons, but the main are:

• I want to learn programming and I believe that there is no better way to do it, than by working a useful piece of software.
• I would love to see a good, free mind mapping software - especially on Gnome platform which would be my platform of choice if I wasn't stuck on Windows.
• I think that mind mapping is a very good way of representing any type of information and a good mind map rendering library could be a useful widget for all kinds of application. One of them could be a dynamic replacement of current desktop called mindtop.

As a total programming newbie I will need a lot of help, support and patience from everyone involved or interested in the success of this project. So, if You're interested in joining the project or You want provide help of any kind just let me know. All help will be appreciated.
